At the corporate level, we strongly believe that we have an obligation to serve the community within social, educational, and charitable spheres. Australian businesses have the vast potential to extend & receive benefits from a growing Halal market worldwide. Due to the lack of a uniform Halal Standard in Australia however, we believe that the full extent of these benefits are yet to be witnessed. In response, Halal Australia provides clear goals and objectives to facilitate the Halal standardisation processes for all parties involved.

How does your business benefits from having Halal Accreditation?
• Tapping into a quarter of world’s population provides a lucrative Australian export opportunity to the global Halal market. With a total global Muslim population of nearly 1.8 billion, the Halal market is currently estimated to be worth approximately US$300 billion.
• Of this, the Australian market is worth about AU$1 billion. Moreover, the approximately 450,000 Muslims in Australia are increasing demand of Halal produce in the domestic market.
• Since 2001-02, Australian food exports to Muslim countries were valued at US$3.7 billion over the five years. The combined export value of beef, veal and lamb products were worth over $330 million and dairy products worth more than $1 billion (Sources: Australia Halal Trade, Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne 2006, Halal International Conference, Convention Centre, Melbourne 2007).
• Since Halal certification is not mandatory, a competitive advantage is gained over companies with no Halal Accreditation.
